I signed up for a trial account; can my colleagues and library members try it too?

They certainly can.  You just need to sign in using the email and password you created when you signed up.  You'll arrive at the Library Dashboard.  Here you'll see your personalised URL.  Just give that to your colleagues and library members. Then they can sign up for their own student accounts free of charge.
